Today, I have prepared a frame for you featuring beautiful ladies from AB Studio papers, and the frame itself resembles a mahogany piece of furniture, which reminds me of the Baroque era and the atmosphere of graphic art. In a short photo tutorial, I will show you how to achieve this effect on an HDF frame using Cadence aging paint.
Zaczynamy od przygotowania naszej ramki. Delikatnie ją szlifujemy i malujemy białym gesso. Następnie przy pomocy szablonu tworzymy reliefy z pasty modelującej. Warto wybrać wzory nawiązujące do stylu barokowego co podkreśli klimat grafik.
We begin by preparing our frame. We gently sand it down and paint it with white gesso. Then, using a template, we create reliefs from modelling paste. It is worth choosing patterns that refer to the Baroque style, as this will emphasise the atmosphere of the graphics.
Kiedy nasze reliefy dokładnie wyschną malujemy całość biała farbą akrylową. Malujemy też miejsca w których będziemy naklejać papier ryżowy.
When our reliefs are completely dry, we paint the whole thing with white acrylic paint. We also paint the areas where we will be sticking rice paper.
A teraz możemy wykorzystać farbę postarzającą do tworzenia efektu mahoniu. Potrzebujemy pędzel gąbkowy, którym rozprowadzamy farbę metodą tapowania tworząc nieregularne przejścia kolorów. Malujemy również reliefy, ściągając delikatnie nadmiar farby, mokrą chusteczką, ukazując reliefy. Farbę nanosimy cienką warstwą a kiedy wyschnie nakładamy drugą warstwę delikatnie cieniujaąc naszą ramkę. Ponieważ farba ma wykończenie w połysku ja zmatowiłam ją kilkoma warstwami lakieru matowego.
Now we can use the repeating paint to create a mahogany effect. We need a sponge brush to spread the paint using the tapping method, creating irregular colour transitions. We also paint the relief, gently removing excess paint with a wet tissue to reveal the reliefs. Apply the paint in a thin layer and when it dries, apply a second layer, gently shading our frame. Since the paint has a glossy finish, I ordered it with several layers of matt varnish.
Kolejnym krokiem jest naklejenie grafik i jak zawsze w przypadku papieru ryżowego lakierujemy i szlifujemy. Kiedy mamy przygotowane grafiki przecieramy nasze reliefy i brzegi wnętrza ramek złotym woskiem i całość sklejamy. Mam nadzieję że spodoba Wam się ten efekt.
The next step is to stick on the graphics and, as always with rice paper, varnish and sand them. Once the graphics are ready, rub the reliefs and edges of the frame interior with gold wax and glue everything together. I hope you like the effect.
